Sustainability on Campus

Sodexo serves more than 900 college campuses across the United States.

We could never serve such a vast and diverse population without customizing our menus and services to meet the ever-changing needs of America’s college and university students.

Our Student Board of Directors is a group of student leaders representing the diverse communities we serve. They're not shy about letting us know what today's college student really wants from campus dining. The direction we take on campus - from menus and facility designs to the overall dining experience - is truly designed for students by students.

For the 2007-08 academic year, our student directors will focus on:

  • Eco environment and sustainability
  • Balance and nutrition
  • Food trends and menus
  • Promotions and hallmark events
  • Hunger and community programs

Anti-hunger Efforts on Campus

Sodexo does more than provide food service on campus.

The Campus Kitchens Project

Sodexo is the founding funder of the The Campus Kitchens Project, a nation-wide program offering college students a chance to serve their communities.

The Campus Kitchens Project empowers thousands of college students to recycle food from their cafeterias, turn these donations into nourishing meals and deliver those meals to those who need them most. The project also opens up on-campus kitchen space to teach culinary skills to unemployed men and women, who in turn help students learn about poverty and stereotypes.

So far, The Campus Kitchens Project has provided more than 500,000 meals, serving an average of 2,500 meals each month.

Campus Kitchens are currently featured at:

  • Augsburg College
  • Gonzaga College High School
  • Gonzaga University
  • Marquette University
  • Minnesota State University
  • Northwestern University
  • Saint Louis University
  • University of Nebraska at Kearney
  • Wake Forest University
  • Washington and Lee University

Sustainability on Campus

Sodexo provides locally grown and sustainable food products to more than 900 college campuses in the U.S. We partner with more than 500 local farmers near these campuses to offer these locally grown foods. This commitment is real. 98 cents of every dollar we spend on produce goes to contracted distributors who support local farms.
